Hyaluronic acid (HA, also known as Hyaluronan) is a linear polysaccharide composed of repeating disaccharide units consisting of N-acetyl-glucosamine and D-glucuronic acid. HA is naturally present in the human body and plays an important role in tissue and cellular functions. In many cases, HA biological activity is believed to be related to its molecular size.
