Heparin Thiol

Heparin Thiol

Description

Heparin Thiol is a reactive heparin polysaccharide for bioconjugation or crosslinking. Heparin has functionalized thiol groups. Thiol groups react with maleimide via thiol-ene reactions. Heparin thiols is also useful to prepare heparin hydrogels by thiol-thiol crosslinking reaction. To maximize the reactivity of thiols, a reducing reagent TECP may be helpful. Purity: >95% lyophilized powder. Standard degree of substitution: 5 mol % substitution. Heparin-Thiol derivatives with lower or higher thiol SH substitution ratio (e.g. 1% and 10%) is available through custom synthesis service.

Properties

Heparin is a member of the glycosaminoglycan family of carbohydrates  (which includes the closely related molecule  heparan sulfate) and consists of a variably sulfated repeating  disaccharide unit. The most common disaccharide unit in heparin is composed of a 2-O-sulfated iduronic acid  and 6-O-sulfated, N-sulfated glucosamine, IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S).

Heparin CAS#: 9005-49-6
