Description
Alginate is labeled with rhodamine, Ex/Em wavelength 552/575 nm. Purity: >95% powder. Standard degree of substitution: 1 mol % substitution and at least one dye molecule per polymer. Alginic acid labeled with other rhodamine dyes having altered emission wavelengths may be offered through our custom synthesis. Alginate labeled with other types of fluorescent dyes such as near infrared or infrared dyes or biomolecular probes may be offered through our custom synthesis.
Properties
Alginic acid, is a naturally occurring polysaccharide  found in  brown algae. It is  hydrophilic. With metals such as sodium and calcium, its salts are known as  alginates. Its color ranges from white to yellowish-brown and may appear as filamentous, granular, or powdered forms. Its typical molecular mass ranges from 10k to 600k; however alginate is often characterized and presented with viscosity, instead of molecular weight.
