PEG-PLA

PEG-PLA

Description

PEG-PLA is an amphiphilic AB diblock copolymer. The two blocks are hydrophilic block polyethylene glycol (PEG) and hydrophobic block polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA). The PEG segment is capped with a methyl ether group (i.e. mPEG). The hydrophobic PLA block terminates with a hydroxyl group. PEGylated copolymers with biodegradable and biocompatible polyester segments is useful to prepare core-shell micelles, nanoparticles and microspheres. The hydrolytic degradability of polyester segments depend on the molecular weight and the spacer between ester groups (lactide, glycolide or caprolactone). PEG-PLA with other MWs not listed is also available.
