Description
Functional Poloxamer is available through both catalog products and custom synthesis service. The functional groups can be azide, maleimide, thiol, alkyne for click chemistry, NHS ester, amine, acrylate. Functional Poloxamer are nonionic triblock copolymers. Poloxamer has a central hydrophobic chain of poly(propylene oxide) PPO flanked by two hydrophilic chains of poly(ethylene oxide) PEO or PEG.  Poloxamers are also known by the trade names such as Pluronic, Kolliphor and Synperonic.
Pluronic F68 is the same as Poloxamer 188 (P188). Pluronic F127Â is the same as Poloxamer 407 (P407).
Poloxamer are commonly named with the letter P followed by three digits: the first two digits multiplied by 100 give the approximate molecular mass of the PPO core, and the last digit multiplied by 10 gives the percentage PEO or PEG content. P407 = poloxamer with a PPO molecular mass of 4000 g/mol and a 70% PEO content. For Pluronic tradenames, the letter to define its physical form at room temperature (L = liquid, P = paste, F = flake (solid)) followed by two or three digits, The first digit (two digits in a three-digit number) multiplied by 300, indicates the approximate molecular weight of PPO; and the last digit multiplied by 10 gives the percentage PEO content. Pluronic L61 indicates a PPO molecular mass of 1800 g/mol and a 10% PEO content.
